Fantastic flavours, beautifully prepared, attentive service to the point that the wine glasses were never empty. A culinary sensation. Washed down with a great Grand Cru.
Vegetarian options were limited and not all of the menu was stocked. My meat/fish eating friend was very happy with his food. I had the halloumi stack which was nice but one piece was a little overcooked which put me off the rest of the meal. I would definitely go back but would try the other vegetarian option or eat from the side dishes. Hopefully the cheesecake will be in stock. Staff were lovely.
Not first visit, possibly last. Previously atmosphere at Ducks was very good. Not now. Staff seemed ill at ease with PPE. This impacted on our enjoyment. Instead of of mobiles for the menu it would be an idea to project on walls using projectors. Food was not exactly what was expected. Calamari was not hot. Ice Cream was crystallised. Had it been in and out of the freezer? In my experience the age of the serving staff is young. This in turn I believe leads to a level of service below what I expect. It’s a guess that the staff do not dine out perhaps as often as other people do. There is also a feeling of automated responses to customers requests. The absence of “table checks” was welcome. Table Checks are normally “is everything ok?”, diners reply “Yes”. A waste of time, better to enquire if the meal was satisfactory while clearing plates rather than interrupt people eating unnecessarily.
Very good food, was in the bar area, and it was quiet, Dog friendly as well. Small issue with the menus online not matching what was being served, once that was sorted it was straightforward and quick.
