Markt-Cafe - Alsfeld

We stopped by needing a break from the highway and it’s boring restaurants. Lovely city, and we were pleased to sit outside. The main warm dishes are schnitzel, and the 3 types we tried were excellent (they had 10-12 types all ranging between 11-13 EUR). I had the one with mushroom sauce, and it was super nice. And my 9-year old had fried potatoes and a fried egg for 4 EUR. We will definitely stop by here next time. Fast and efficient service when we where there at 3pm.

Even though we visited this place with kids, we could not get any attention from waiters for the whole 20 minutes! Young waiters are not able to speak one word in English avoid this place.

About 5 minutes after I arrived the waitress got round to taking my drink order. 15 minutes later, no drink in sight, she tried to give me someone else's bill. When I pointed out that I hadn't even had anything yet she took my drink order again, along with my food order. The drink arrived in another 5 minutes or so and after 45 minutes with still no food in sight, I paid for the drink (she was confused about what I was even paying for! and left for the Kartoffelsack restaurant across the square that managed to serve me everything in 10 minutes flat. I recommend you just start there...

(a lunch with two people for 29.80 euro) we were very early in asfeld on the road and therefore very early in the midday starving. located directly on the market, it offers a series of exhibitors for warm kitchen and various. parking you will find with some luck also in a minute(s) near the market during the payment, because the free first 30 minutes are certainly not enough to lunch. in the market caffe offers itself as very large, high, with warm colorful brighter space, with various tables and benches. the first impression is, they are in an overhauled empty shop only missing the stairs. we were looking for a nice bank at the passage to the caffe. the wall behind us garnished with various photos of famous personalities that have already visited this house, as well as various certificates. the service performance came extremely flashing on our table and we ordered fast drinks and a homemade potato cream soup as appetizer for me, then in the rest study the card. all very appealing sounds we decided to carve with pommes and salat. for my wife fried chicken breast with tomato basilikum sauce, for me the with cooked ham, champignons and cheese baked carving wallis . drinks and also before came fast. the announced homemade potato cream suppe has very disappointed my expectations. She was okay, but she wasn't. very watery and without taste. the most important food then exceeded expectations. but first came the small salate plate. freshly prepared, attractively prepared, delicious. shortly afterwards followed the chicken breast and the carving wallis. pommes both well managed and delicious. the wood carved wall is like tasty to house, fried in a pan and baked with fresh champignons. bravo! (and again we remember the dose mushroom recently on a pizza in a place where we really do not expect it) friteusen carving with standards sauce I can no longer see! also the fried chicken breast delicious and juicy tasting. really good. in this view, the non-speaking potato cream soup falls only a little into weight and we still give a good taste for the day-to-day meal, because ok is too little to take into account the main course! Ended up in Alsfeld after getting lost on the autobahn. Lovely old town with lots of character. We found the Marktcafe while looking around. Luckily we arrived just before closing, which was quite early in the evening. The service and food was very good, Kartoffel Puffers coated in Ham and cheese and my old favourite Jägerschnitzel with mushroom sauce and fries. Both were with a salad which was fresh and tasty.
