Fear. Everything's good, everything's beautiful. Delicate, inventive, surprising, idem wines, place out of standards. I've done a lot of places, but now it's a summum. Special greetings for the sommelier.
We had it for the first stars in Mol, but not since the arrival in Antwerpen. Since then, the third star has arrived and we had to return with joy and enthusiasm. The restaurant is located in the building of a museum that is built on a kind of peninsula on the Escaut. Access is not simple (see PS at the end) but we finally arrived in this superb room on the 9th floor, long and spacious, very luxurious “lounge”, soft music and brown/black colours. Various types of seats are available, chairs, armchairs and small velvet jackets. Beautiful presence of mind. Great champagnes at the cup (35€ and 50€ the cup, eh, three stars and large city, we don't pay with kopecks) are offered in accompaniment to the superb mouths (six plus a wonderful bread tile). We opted for the two menus, 8 services each, plant for one, general for the other. I'm not gonna describe every dish. The pictures and the menus are enough! At table, whisk, brioche, Bordier butter, olive oil, salt blossom... everything it takes from beginning to end. Very high flight service. Map of the splendid wines by Aaron Moeraert, the sommelier chef, very talented. Three separate books, one for champagne and sweet wines, one for white and one for red. Presentation by clear regions and subregions. Correct prices on the base and relatively exorbitant wines on the large cuvées. No wine selection on the menus but just a glass wine proposal. The whole is proposed with a deep focus and reflection. Great moments of the menu, the st Jacques in two ways, the caviar, the turbot, the topinambour, the beet, the dish artichoke and the rum babas in post dessert !! From one end to the other, excellence is absolute. There is no doubt, three stars, by far, largely. Everything was superb, succulent, perfect seasoning, impeccable cooking, happy and even splendid associations. It was a great meal. Maybe just a lack of emotion but we can't have everything. Beautiful house. Superb three stars and far superior to many French star tries. Bravo! PS: for the anecdote, on arrival I had to sit on the bench for half an hour in the entrance of the elevator corridor. The restaurant is located in the building of a museum that is built on a kind of peninsula on the Escaut. Pedestrian zone with kilometric esplanade, complicated for me so had to ask for a code to get the terminals down and then ride among the undue passers-by and drop me at the corner of the building, cross the hall and now I expect that poor Joevin to come out (with another code for the terminals, which didn’t walk) and then find a hypothetical parking place apparently at 500m (which they say) and Not ideal for access to a three-star restaurant, this route of the fighter. In addition they ask you to dress « casual chic » so 500m in the rain, even for people « knowing how to walk » and so potentially ruining your fleet jacket and/or getting sweat is not very consistent. A valet parking or a small electric shuttle between the parking lot and the entrance would really be a good idea. Or just fixing a parking area behind the building doesn't seem so complicated to me. Ok well tell people “come by taxi, otherwise it’s horror.” Finally think about a practical solution. Comfortable. I mean something.
