During our recent visit to Apollo Bay, we discovered that this restaurant was one of the best. We tried the eye fillet steak and baby snapper, both of which were sensational. It seems like they may have changed their restaurant manager or chef since two years ago. Despite any negative reviews, we were extremely pleased with the service and the quality of the food. We highly recommend this restaurant!
This restaurant is a must-visit for those looking to enjoy high-quality dishes in an upscale dining atmosphere. The Tasmanian salmon fillet was cooked to perfection with a crispy skin and the flavorful salad was a nice addition, though the shiitake mushrooms were slightly undercooked. The seafood linguine had a delicious blend of prawn, scallop, fish, and mussel flavors. Save room for dessert, as the tiramisu cake and creme brulee did not disappoint. The oysters were decent, but on the smaller side and not as fresh as other places. However, this is easily overlooked considering the outstanding quality of the other dishes. This is a great spot for a date night, just be prepared to pay for the fine dining experience.
We ate here about six months ago and were looking forward to a second try. Unfortunately it wasn't a good experience. The fish of the day was mediocre. The seafood linguini had plenty of seafood (apparently the staff read other reviews here) but the pasta was overcooked and served up in a tasteless sauce. Pity!
We visited for a family meal, the service was ok but the food was only average for an exorbitant price!! We would of not recommend this place for the price. In particular the 'whole fish' was flathead with no sides, this was not explained by the waitress. Also not a great choice as it is mostly bones.
