Brisket meat melting in your mouth, root beer and traditional Mexican lager made the day!! I visited with my extended family today (there were loads of us) and got caught with the storm! Never mind as meat was delicious!! Totally worth it!!!
I came here a few years ago when it was just the food truck and I loved the simplicity of good flavor but what the heck. I didn’t get a frito pie. I got a plate full of spicy vegetables with 2 small slices of dried brisket and a few Fritos. I won’t be back!
The pulled lamb was the star here. Definitely get that. They also had the best cheese grits by far. Everything else was great, but we had better at some other spots…but here’s the thing, if I lived in the area, I would go here 4 times for every time I went to a place like Franklin, where you have to wait in line for hours.
Updated review, July 2024: I ordered the 3 meat plate and chose the pulled lamb for one of the meats. Wow, what a delicious decision!! Tender, smoky, succulent...it was the best thing on a plate of already delicious food. I also got sliced brisket, roasted pepper and garlic lamb sausage, jalapeño cheese grits and cucumber salad. The brisket was moist and tasty, the sausage was, for me at least, disappointing, as I wanted it to have more robust flavor, but I drizzled bbq sauce on it and that made a difference. As before, the grits were a standout item. The cucumber salad had green apple and onion, and a light dressing. It made for a reprieve from the other heavier foods. Sitting under the trees eating yummy food was a pleasant way to spend lunch on a Saturday. I would 100% recommend the pulled lamb (I could have happily chosen it for all 3 meats on my plate), the grits, and the potato salad which my husband ordered. Original review, September 2023: We stood in line for 45 minutes and sadly didn't quite beat the rain, lol, but the food was worth it, even if we sat in our vehicle, rain bedraggled to eat it. Between the two of us we got the brisket, turkey, Tex-Czech and Hatch chili sausages, potato salad, mac n cheese, jalapeño cheese grits and the beet salad. Everything was great, except for the beets, which were bland and needed salt and some of that citrus it was said to contain. The grits were frankly amazing, even my husband loved them and he doesn't like grits. Overall the meal was very satisfying and worth the wait.
