Porkies Barbque - Bayswater

I'd heard great things about this place, despite the confusion and issues with business names of the former Porky's/now Deen St BBQ. I found the service to be pretty good - staff welcomed us and checked we were aware of the counter service and options for free condiments. Some of the kitchen staff saw me being a creep and drooling at the nice looking food coming off the pass, and politely explained what I was drooling after. The food itself was not too badly priced, with good sized servings. Between my friend and I we got a ribs/chicken platter with chips and mac and cheese, some jalapeño poppers and a Texan Brisket sandwich special. The ribs were quite dry but had a delicious glaze, the chicken was similarly overcooked but also had a nice flavour. The mac and cheese was quite bland and everything on the platter was a bit lukewarm. We did see a lot of large platters go past which looked much better than ours, not nearly as dry but still not happy about the inconsistency. The poppers were a bit lukewarm but tasty - on the small side but they came with large smoked mushrooms which were good. I specifically ordered the special brisket as the menu said all sandwiches came with chips and pickles however apparently the special was not applicable - no one mentioned it until I received it, so that was quite disappointing - it was a very decent size though and came with bacon, onion rings and cheese but again lukewarm. It was handy having paper towel rolls on the table although the way the table was set up we kept losing table items down the side which was quite annoying. The sauces on the table were tasty and I'd return but not for the items we had.

This is your go to place for smoked BBQ meats. The platters are unbelievable value and the meats are cooked to perfection. The chicken was an absolute stand out! The atmosphere is ver bistro/ cafeteria and they do not sell alcohol, so make sure to bring some beer, but what it lacks in grills it makes up for in quality food.

I thought I had written a review of this place already but feel the need to do so now.  I had been so excited when I saw the aquarium store being renovated. I love ribs, I cook ribs whenever I can. There is nothing more tasty than sticky and smoky baby back ribs!  Unless you go to this place!  This was the most disappointing place I have been to. Expecting juicy ribs, we received cold and tough pieces of grey meat glued to bone, a tiny serve of coleslaw and a couple of slices of bread.  Based on serving size this mess cost us almost twice as much as Ribs and Burgers in Perth (a venue I wholeheartedly recommend).   I left the place feeling not only disappointed, but cheated and physically ill.  Won't be going back.

Been coming here since their opening a few years back! Low and Slow BBQ... great rubs, brisket is always cooked to perfection and some cool sides like mac n cheese, chilli fries and love their version of dirty rice. They provide a range of their own sauces. Daily mix of American pies and the amazing vibe is unpretentious and chilled. Porkies makes my tastebuds happy✌????
