My experience at Cafe Buon Gusto was okay. My group and I came around 11:00 AM, and we were pretty lucky because most restaurants in the area don't open until 12 noon, so we decided to check this place out! We received pretty good customer service, so I was happy about that. I ordered the seafood linguini, which was good, but a tad bit on the salty side. The fried calamari had a rubbery taste, so it was hard to enjoy, but the sauce was delicious! I even dipped some of the complimentary focaccia bread in it. I was surprised to find that the brunch plates seemed pretty empty. My two friends ordered the eggs Benedict, and the portion sizes were pretty small. This was a tad disappointing.
If you're looking for amazing Italian take-out look no further. Caffe Buon Gusto is affordable, delicious and they give you HUGE portions. For delivery, I got a Caesar salad and spaghetti and meatballs. It came with complimentary bread. Everything was delicious, I was so full and had leftovers. Will definitely order from here again. Oh, and if you're a vodka sauce lover you HAVE to try theirs. It's to die for
I came in here one rainy Saturday to take myself on a date. I had read great things about their Crab Meat Ravioli I think it was around of $18) and wanted to curb my pasta craving. I came at the perfect time. Around 4pm. After the brunch crowd left but before the sinner crowd. There were a few folks at the bar and only one other table sat. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and sat at a corner table alone. The music was right up my alley and included all the classic 90s R&B hits. Very chill and the perfect vibe I was looking for to distress from a crazy few weeks at work. This one my first time dining alone at a table at a restaurant and they made me feel very comfortable as I sipped my wine and sang along in my seat. Now honeyyyyyyyyyyy, when I tell you that the ravioli BLEW MY MIND. I ate every single morsel on that plate and could have kept going had it been bottomless. It paired great with my glass of Sauvignon $9).
Looooove caffe buon gusto and have been the UES location multiple times for the gnocchi with vodka sauce. I live in fidi, so decided to check out the brooklyn location, given it's closer proximity. I was a little nervous due to some of the poor reviews, but decided to give it a shot anyways. My bf and I ended up loving this location more than the one in the UES! One, it is closer to my apt, so it was a lot easier to get to and the location additionally is about double or triple the size, so it was very easy to get a table! They have the same, complimentary pizza bread as the location in the UES to start your meal. This location had dinner specials where you could choose an appetizer, main, and dessert for about $30--great deal! I think the prices here overall are a couple of dollars less as well. I ordered the gnocchi with spicy vodka sauce as usual and it did not disappoint! the consistency/texture was a little different from the UES location. The ones in the UES are very squishy and pillowy--the ones at this location were more formed, and delicious in their own way! Would highly recommend checking this place out!
