We also added Italian bread with herb-seasoned olive oil, which had great flavor and generous portions. The prices were reasonable, and the wine selection was $18 per bottle with the option to take home any leftovers in a sealed bag. The coffee was also enjoyable. We arrived on a Monday night around 6 pm on our way from Canada to points further south. There weren't many guests at first, but by the time we left at 7:30, the restaurant was 3/4 full, which was impressive for the beginning of the week. The bartender, Ken, was friendly, attentive, and provided timely service. The ambiance was friendly and comfortable, with soft lighting and a quiet atmosphere perfect for conversation. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely return to this restaurant.
Tappo is a great option for an after-work happy hour, perfect for those who are new to wine and want to explore different options. It can also be a great spot for a date night that won't break the bank. The Calebrese flatbread is a must-try and the best food on the menu. However, the bar service can be hit or miss, especially when the bar is busy. The meatballs are often overworked or over-seasoned. Despite these issues, Tappo is a reliable choice for a post-work meal downtown.
It has been a while since my last visit, but this restaurant is just as I remembered. The atmosphere was lively on a Tuesday night, with many groups of girls enjoying a night out. For appetizers, we tried the stuffed peppers, meatballs, and Brussel sprouts. The peppers were beautifully presented with a fried egg on top and served on garlic toast. They had a nice crunch, good flavor, and just the right amount of spice. The meatballs were tasty and a generous portion for sharing. However, the standout dish was the crispy and flavorful Brussel sprouts. For my main course, I had the eggplant parmigiana. The eggplant was cooked perfectly with a crispy texture, and I loved the addition of ricotta between the layers of mozzarella and eggplant. Overall, I really enjoy this restaurant for its delicious food at reasonable prices. It's a great spot for a girls' night out as well.
The food was decent I really liked the cocktails. I forgot the name of what I ordered but it was a pasta dish with sausage and tomatoes in it. I ordered it without the sausage and asked for rigatoni noodles. It was okay. I wish their menu had more options tho.
Tappo's rooftop is absolutely unbeatable. If you want a nice, Italian dinner with a great view, this is the place. I had the chicken piccata tonight and although it wasn't traditional chicken piccata, it was delicious. I would warn you that it's pretty different though. Hard to describe but it was still really good and had capers! $10 bottle of Wednesdays are also hard to beat!! I had the Chardonnay and thought it was going to be not so great (understatement) but it was actually pretty good.
