The service was terrible and almost non-existent, despite the lack of other customers (now I understand why). The food was very average and took an extremely long time to be served. The bruschetta was just a pizza base with tasteless toppings. To add insult to injury, the bill was probably $40 more than it should have been for two people.
The positives included a friendly maitre d' who assured me that they could accommodate my request for no garlic, despite being a Mediterranean restaurant. The wine selection was extensive and we enjoyed our drinks. However, there were several drawbacks. We were seated at a table near an open door, letting in a chilly draft. Despite multiple requests to close it, our waitress seemed hesitant until the Maitre'd intervened. We also waited over 30 minutes to place our orders. My steak, a special dish I ordered medium with no sauce, arrived overcooked and bland. The lack of seasoning made it unappetizing and chewy. The reopening of the door later in the evening seemed to subtly encourage us to leave without ordering dessert or coffee. Overall, the experience was quite ordinary. While the food may be good for those without dietary restrictions, the slow and inattentive service detracted from our overall enjoyment.
This wonderful family-run restaurant serves delicious and authentic Italian food that is simply out of this world. Unlike other restaurants on Lygon Street that can be pushy, this place offers a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. My friends and I had a fantastic evening with flawless service, divine food, and a friendly family vibe. I highly recommend it.
Perfect family business Mum's cooking kids on floor and dad managing the floor and a beautiful daughter on the bar very friendly and kinds staffs too
The only problem with our visit was the inattentiveness of the staff. Whilst they were very friendly they just weren't paying attention. We were never offered water, something that you are routinely offered at restaurants throughout Australia and also here but, somehow, they missed us. We also would have had dessert here but waited for 10 minutes after our main had been taken away and nobody came and asked it we wanted anything else, so we left.Having said all that, the food that we did have was superb. We shared a bug on a fettuccine base surrounded by mussels with garlic sauce. Mmm, I can still taste the delight! The atmosphere and decor are very tasteful as well. Would definitely eat here again.
