We started with the caviar appetizer, which was simple but a unique experience. The caviar paired wonderfully with the crepe and boiled egg. For the main course, we ordered the pork stew, and the flavor was excellent. It was served with some wonderfully crispy, soft naan bread that complemented the dish perfectly. I can't remember the name of my dish, but I have a picture of it! It was really good as well! I also tried a kompot drink, which I was unfamiliar with, but after a quick Google search, I decided to give it a shot. I’m glad I did because it was refreshing and not overly sweet, especially compared to canned pineapple. Overall, I really enjoyed both dishes!
Drove all the way here from Davis in search of some tasty beef stroganoff but was very disappointed. Stroganoff was extremely bland and meat was flavorless. Stewed lamb was very small and contained mostly potatoes. The only saving grace was the pork shnitzel which was actually very crispy and flavorful. The interior has very fun decorations but screaming kids ruined the ambiance during our visit. Would not recommend this if you are searching for beef stroganoff.
There isn't many Russian restaurant in Sacramento and I've been eyeing the Firebird for a very long time. Tonight I finally get to be a patron now that we are able to dine-in at restaurants again. First, the decor is very unique and one of a kind. I got a sense this is an authentic and homey Russian restaurant the moment I walked in. We had a reservation and was seated very quickly. Throughout the night the staff were very attentive and super nice, giving me a cozy family feeling. They are very safe in response to COVID-19. There were touch-less hand sanitizers throughout the restaurant and every table had its own full bottle of hand sanitizer as well. As a plus, the bathrooms were spotless, which gives me the impression they're constantly being cleaned. This is probably one of the safest restaurants I've been to during the pandemic. As for the food, OMG everything we got was amazing. Like seriously 5/5 for everything. My favorite dish was especially the lamb shanks. I normally do not like lamb, but Firebird made it extremely perfect. We took our time and enjoyed our food. We were there for over two hours and never were we rushed. At end of the night, everything was simply perfect and we even received a complimentary box of chocolates. For authentic Russian food and a lovely experience, look no further, come to Firebird!
Tried this place out today for a late lunch. Wasn't busy so got seated right away. They brought out some slices of bread with butter. We ordered our drinks, and our food which was the beed stew in a clay pot for the hubby and mine was the pork schnitzel with mashed potatoes and salad. My dish was very big enough for me to split half my pork with my husband. It was very juicy and had good flavor. The mash potatoes we alright a bit on the dry side. The salad was good and went well with the pork. My husband's dish looked small but was very rich and hearty with lots of meat. Cheese and potatoes. Great flavor!!! Just no broth in it Both dishes left us feeling full and had alot of flavorful. For the price you get good portion. Only hiccup was they charge 3 bucks for a can of soda. So I wouldn't recommend getting soda here. Nice atmosphere, good food, good portions and decent price for what you get. We would recommend giving this place a try. We will be back to try some different items in the future.
