Brief Encounter Refreshment Room

Stops for lunch and look around the station and the cultural centre. the refreshment room is beautiful, suitable Vintage/Brief Encounter-themed and serves an excellent selection of drinks. for lunch I had the cake of the day that was homemade and delicious. friendly, very friendly, also staff.

Very pleasant cafe and staff. Good food at a good price.

Such a beautiful journey back in time. Cakes were lovely too!

A group of us were lucky enough to have breakfast here this morning.. it was great. I was not expecting this at all, what a surprise. I 'm a bit of an old trainspotter admittedly after spending my school days underlining numbers in Ian Allen 's loco shed book. The refreshments room is famous for being the location for Brief Encounter . There is a great bar, espresso machine, cake plus a fabulous breakfast menu. This experience rates alongside my visit to Le Train Blue in Gare de Lyon a couple of weeks ago. The keen and outstanding freckled bar maiden was amazingly busy giving top class service. She will go far. Breakfast was wonderful and generous as well as very good value for money.

Wonderful place filled with nostalgia and an enticing menu. I had already eaten, but I couldn’t resist trying a treacle tart. I also enjoyed a brief stroll through the quaint little cinema nearby.
