When i am I Charlotte I always go to pick up items from the V&K Market. Today I decided to try the food truck next to it. I ordered fried rice with chicken. I asked if there was something other than peas and carrots, any other vegetables, was told no. There was a good portion of rice with a few bits of chicken, some small pieces of onion, but nothing else. Fried rice usually has egg, and maybe some green onion, but this only had rice and chicken. $7 was a bit pricey for that, and the flavor was ok, just needed to be stronger.
Yuch! I threw away the food--the wings were burnt....the rice was better but, as I said before, I threw it away later. Not to my liking, and the server acted pretty weird (no other description comes to mind).
Great food! 10$ for dinner and a drink, highly recommend the Thai tea.
I am newer to Charlotte and have felt the absence of decent East Asian and Southeast Asian food. I found JP Food To Go a year or so to go and they have gone far to the void. They are situated on the side of V&K Asian Market. V&K is located just north side of I-85 on the west side of the road just passed (or before, depending on your directional approach) thr median. They have a variety of traditional Lao dishes that are made to order. You can also order your spice level by the number of chili peppers added to the dish (for reference, JP's medium 2 peppers, I would assume adjusted for western palates). V&K is a great place to bide your time while your food cooks as well: get your rice, vegetables, spices, even frozen Lao sausage inside. I have returned time and time again and will continue to come back.
