The time I was there was at 11:52am, the work name is Leema or something close to it. Me and my husband only had 4 items and was getting in line for self checkout when the cashier tells use to go to register one to checkout. There was no one but one Caucasian man checking out. Me and my husband are African american. I asked is self checkout not open? She responded Yes , but you can go to register one, if you like? My husband said !oh I thought only one register was open? She said no all registers are open. I my husband we are using self checkout. Two other Caucasian people just walked right in self checkout to the registers, not once did she tell them to go to register 1, the register closest to their Customer Service. I feel like she was sending us to Register 1, because of our color, because I have been going to the Publix location since they opened and have spent plenty of money in there rather it was in person or from Instacart. Never once has a Publix employee from that store every said anything in a racial way to me until today. I did not stop and ask for her manager because I have medical issues and also embarrassed so I just needed to get out of that store. I was very offended by that employee instructing only us to go to register one, like we were going to steal the 4 items we had. She stood and watch the transaction until we paid for our stuff abd then went to talk to Customer Service and the other cashier. She was not talking about us, it sounded like regular store conversation. I want to make someone aware of this for it want happen again. I have heard stories of people being racially profiled at Publix but NEVER had this happened to me until today 02/22/2021.
It does not open at 630 o'clock. it opens at 7 o'clock. reply to the owner, please update them the hours on google so that others do not make the same mistake and I will happily delete my review.
So I stopped on Monday afternoon by the starsbucks in the publix on south blvd. there were 2 people working, only one helped a customer. When I started, they both made eye contact with me, but... they didn't recognize me. So I stood there okay and thought they were busy doing others, and they'll say something to me sometime. Well, both of them looked at me a few more times, but still nothing said. I really wanted to see how long it would take to tell me something. after almost 4 minutes and not yet recognized, I decided to go away because I was very disappointed and irritated and did not want to say what I thought. I really hope this had nothing to do with my skin being dark like the coffee I wanted to get! P.S the employees had no coffee-colored skin.
The customer service at this place is outstanding! We arrived just before closing, and I felt really bad about it. I was ready to leave so the barista could go home, but she insisted on making our drinks. She mentioned that tips aren't allowed at this location, which is such a pity because she definitely deserved one! ❤️
