An Sugan - Clonakilty

Friendly helpful staff who served us delicious freshly cooked dinner, great wine. Lovely cosy atmosphere.

Had a nice meal here, three of us. Our server was our kind of person, cheeky friendliness! Smart food, a beef special, a chicken special and a  burger. Smart clean environment where we were seated.

Gorgeous food, service was quick, place clean, and lovely atmosphere

We had a reservation in Clonakilty but wanted to grab some food afterwards. We saw this restaurant's menu and it looked exciting. The pub had a really nice, authentic atmosphere. However, the girl who was serving us was not friendly. The calamari and goat's cheese starters were amazing, especially the calamari. For mains, I ordered chicken goujons and my partner had fish and chips. The fish and chips were good, but the chips seemed undercooked or cooked in bad oil. The chicken goujons were terrible - the chicken wasn't properly prepared and had a lot of blood veins left, making it look pink and unappetizing. I couldn't eat it and left everything on the plate. Throughout the meal, we were never asked if everything was okay. When we were paying, the server took away a full plate of uneaten food without acknowledging any issues. The lady who took our payment also didn't say anything - she just knew where we were sitting and took the payment without a word. As a waitress myself since the age of 16, I have never experienced such lack of customer service. It was very disappointing, even though the place and calamari were great. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. Additionally, the meal was quite expensive - 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 pint, and a coke cost nearly 80 euros.

We have been going to the Sugan for years and continue to go as we love the delicious food, the warm welcome and the atmosphere. Very lucky to have such a lovely restaurant in  Clonakilty, Ella and Denis are super as are all the staff.
