Absolutely fantastic homemade burger and chips with thick bacon and gorgeous homemade burger. Chips they clearly homemade and not out of a packet! Recommended and will definitely go back!
The Cross Keys is fast becoming our favourite place to eat in the Dale! We've enjoyed some great Saturday meals, but this week we decided to try the Fish Fryday special fish and chips (with mushy/garden peas and tartare sauce) plus a drink at an amazing price. The fish was divine white flesh and crispy batter, and the chips were cooked just right. The service was friendly and we enjoyed chatting together after our meal we weren't rushed out at all. Definitely a good place to try if you're in Weardale!
Four of us stayed at this restaurant during our c2c bike tour. The hosts, Brian and Gaynor, were welcoming from the start. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. There was also a good selection of wine, beer, and spirits to choose from. The room was perfect for our group and we felt it was great value for money. We all agreed that we hope to return in the future. Thank you.
I have been dining at The Cross Keys twice a year for the past 9 years and have never been disappointed. Gaynor and Brian always take great care of us, and the waitresses are very friendly and excellent at their jobs.
I came to foot and entered the yard. there was a person in a table with a drink. Someone came out, a hired person I guess, and told me to come from the accommodation, as they were not open for another 10 minutes. very unpleasant.! in the future I will go into this direction, but bring my own food and drink.
