This restaurant does not live up to its name. My first impression of the place was that it would be a casual, family-friendly diner with a 50's theme; for the most part, this is true, but something felt off about the experience. Despite the name suggesting otherwise, the staff did not return our greetings and seemed cold when we arrived. We were seated quickly, but our waiter seemed confused and unprofessional. There was only one person attending to customers and acting as a host. The restaurant was quite spacious, but it never seemed to be at full capacity. The interior had a modern take on a classic diner and offered front row seating. The menu was extensive, which may be overwhelming for a traditional American diner. The wait time for our drinks and food was frustratingly long. There was a sign advertising a new ice cream flavor, but when my guest inquired about it, the waiter seemed clueless. They eventually informed us that they did not have it, and my guest had to choose another flavor. Despite these issues, the highlight of this diner was the food and prices. The portions were generous and the food was tasty, making it worth the price. However, I can't see myself returning to this restaurant. The staff did not live up to the friendly atmosphere I had expected from a place called "Friendly's." I would recommend this restaurant for families, tourists, and maybe for a quick lunch. However, there are likely other nearby options that may offer a more friendly experience.
Extremely slow service, old dated building, order was wrong, could hear the staff in the kitchen contest. was there about an hour for 2 sandwiches and a series of the mozzarella sticks. We were one of 4 tables how this place is still open.
We are from out of town and sadly, they closed all of the Friendly's restaurants in our area (Central VA). I was sooo excited to incorporate this restaurant into our trip. Unfortunately, it is so stale, musty and just weird-smelling, we got sundaes to go rather than eating in like we planned. When I asked to get it to go, the server looked at us like we had three heads. Two sundaes- $16. The carpet tile should have been replaced about 10 years ago as it was sticky and I am sure holding a lot of the objectionable odors. The sundaes weren't bad, but were kind of slapped together. There is another location in Wilkes-Barre which looked much nicer, but we did not go inside. I wish we would have found that one instead.
I have lived near this friendly’s for years….. I have not been there in a bit but looked on their website for current menu and was shocked!!! 28.99 for a lobster roll with fries, 14.00 for an omelette, and 16.00 for a hamburger!!!!!! There isn’t a corporate place they are not priced higher than. It disappoints me to see that this company is intentionally trying to close them up. I guess another abandoned building is inevitable!
