This was our first time at the new location in Bowery. I was just in town. This new room in Chinatown was bright, spacious and clean. The old location was on Pell. You don't take reservations, so it comes to service first. We had a party of 5 and we arrived at 6:00 on Friday of the MLK holiday weekend. We sat right away. You checked our IDs against our vaccination cards. We sat on the back of the restaurant. The service was good. They came to take away our order and there were already hot tea at the table when we arrived. They refilled the teapot and our water glasses during the meal. We ordered an order of pan roasted dumplings, two crabs and two pigs xiao long baos (soup dumplings), a crispy fried noodle and scallion pancake. That was more than enough for our party of five. The pan fried the emptying was fine to write nothing at home. 's Chinatown is where I first tried and fell in love with soup dumplings. Between Joe's (Shanghai or Ginger), I don't taste much of a difference. Both are so good and favorable. I'm from the west coast and Joe 's is so much better than Din Tai Fung in the west coast, which is also overpriced and overhyped. If you're in NY, you should try Joe!
Favourite place. Above all on Thursday drum nights, 420 friendly and generally welcome for all people. Beautiful cold after a long day work, always people chat with. Very recommended
