Louella Wine, Beer Beverage - Durham

Louella truly embodies the essence of a neighborhood establishment. The staff is small and friendly, and after just a few visits, you'll feel like they know you as an old friend. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, complemented by an amazing selection of wines, a great variety of beers, and some fun options like schor, sangria, and cocktails. Their weekly free tastings offer an excellent opportunity to explore new wine varieties and regions. Recently, they’ve introduced cheese and sausage plates, which make for the perfect date night! Whenever you're in Durham, a visit to Louella is a must!

I recently visited Louella on a laid-back weekday afternoon and had a delightful experience. Louella serves as both a bar and a wine shop, featuring some outdoor seating. Their selection of wines (and beers, including the design, bottle, and serving size) is exceptional. The staff was extremely friendly and provided excellent recommendations. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was very pleasant. The atmosphere in the bar and lounge area is open and relaxed, making it a perfect spot to unwind.

Last weekend, my two best friends, my 89-year-old mother, and I were in Durham, taking care of a friend’s home and dog. While we were there, our generous friends surprised us with a gift card to Louella. What an experience it was! We enjoyed some delicious treats, shared laughs with the owner, and had a light snack. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, we received top-notch service from Sergio (I hope I got his name right), who assisted us in selecting items to purchase. We had an amazing time and left with several items we couldn’t wait to share with others. Our guide taught us a few things along the way. We can't wait to return to Durham and visit this charming little wine shop again; it truly embodies Tante Tam’s family spirit! Thank you, Emily and Ashley! Tante Tam, Kay, and Gigi (Kim) loved it, and Nana felt like a queen!

My only regret is not coming here earlier. interesting, varied menu of “by the glass” weine. the selection feels like weeping, for weeping people – and yet it is accessible to the more unusual lover with zero-Schnobbery in itself. I love that the bottle selection is hard on $20ish picks, mentally cured so that they can pack quite every bottle in the load and be confident that a) it is reasonable and b) will be delicious. the staff is knowledgeable, helpful and willing to chat when they want to chat. I love louella. it is the best weinladen in the city and quickly become one of my favorite spots in durham.

Wonderful wine selection, excellent service and our new neighborhood place to grab wine. You can enjoy a glass or bottle at the bar and bring in food from a local restaurant too.
