The reason being, the owner take personal interest in quality control. The thali is sumptuous and delicious.I have travelled all over Konkan belt in India and enjoyed Bombil Fry but what Mejwaani had to offer was the best. Unlike many other Konkan sea food restaurants where Bombil is bland and deep fried, here at Mejwaani it is shallow fried. The marination is excellent. The coating of rice flour makes it extra exciting, a must try.We tried Mutton thali comes with choice of Chapati or Bhakri, Goat curry and Goat Kheema I added Vade and made my meals complete. The Surmai Thali came with 3 pieces of fried Surmai and Surmai curry with rice and Chapati. Surprisingly the management of the restaurant has kept quality and quantity very good in times when we see restaurants cutting corners. For desert They have Kharvas (Milk pudding) a delicacy in Maharashtra, India and Puran Poli to die for.If you are Maharashtrian, in NJ, USA and feel home sick then Mejwaani is the place to go.
If you're looking for authentic Maharastrian food in NJ, this is the place to go. The seafood is fresh, and the mutton is cooked to perfection following traditional Maharastrian recipes. We ordered bombil fry, surmai fry, shrimp fry, tandoori pomfret, tesreo masala, mutton saoji, mutton biryani, rice bhakri, bajra/jowari bhakri, chapati and sol kadi. Everything was delicious!! Sadly, I forgot to take pictures of the tandoori pomfret and surmai fry. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
A must visit for any Marathi person. Highly recommend their thalis, Piyush, Kharwas. Bombil fry in rava when I requested them was superb. Chicken lollipop with the correct chutney, just hit the right spot for us. Only regret was that we did not have a larger stomach to everything they had on the menu.Food: 5/5
This is an amazing place for Maharashtrian food lovers. The taste takes you back to rural Maharashtra. We had the Vada pav, Mutton Kheema Pav, Spl Chicken thali Spl Mutton thali and finally meetha pan. This is a must visit place if you are in Edison and yearn for Maharashtrian food.
Superb , most authentic tasting food , great service inspite of them having so much waiting. Loved the ambiance too . This has become our go to place when we miss Maharashtrian food .
