Ambar - El Paso

Our initial impression wasn't the best. The hostess would not seat us at one of the two available booths. After talking with a manger there didn't seem to be a problem doing that. Our server was great. She was polite and had great energy. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and answered all our questions. While it took almost 20 minutes to get our drinks they were delicious! Highly recommend the smoked tequila old fashion. It had the perfect balance of flavor with the smoke and spice from the ancho reyes liquor. The spicy margarita was tasty as well. The carnitas were delicious. My favorite item we ordered. The flavor was great and the meat was so tender. The torta ahogada wasn't what I imagined it would be but very tasty. Then we had the Mexican opera torte for dessert. It was dry and didn't have a lot of flavor. I would try something else.

As a frequent visitor, Ambar never disappoints. The food, ambiance and service exceeds expectations. I will continue to visit as I am always pleased with the overall experience.

Wonderful lamb chops and bar service. Great bourbon Manhattan and tequila menu.

Hostess was clueless. System was down. Wasn't greeted by a server for over 15 minutes once finally seated and overheard their system was down. That made sense, so we left.
