Family friendly. Order and pick up at the counter, which is fine but a bit pricey for no service. Food was okay. I got a combo of ribs and pulled pork. Decent smoke to the ribs, but both were under-seasoned beyond that. Wife got a half chicken which was somewhere between dry and burnt. Slaw was okay, as were the beans and the pound cake was tasty. BBQ sauces were underwhelming(catsup+tobasco does not count as homemade). Overall, just okay with some ups and downs.
We ate at Hooks BBQ in January 2020. We found the BBQ okay but not great. You have to walk up and order from a counter and they bring it to you in to-go plates. We felt the BBQ prices were high especially if we are eating out of to-go plates. For the same money we can eat at a place that has real plates and silverware and better BBQ.
My wife and I had dinner here tonight. It looked like a nice place to get some local BBQ. I got the pork plate with cold slaw and potato salad. Initially the pork was very tasty until I bit down on two pieces of bone, not cool!! The cold slaw was very tasty, but the potato salad had far too much mayo for me. My wife had a pork sandwich, which she said was ok, but she had given me some of her’s and that is when I bit into a large piece of bone. Not cool!!! We both agreed the pound cake they give you is very good. Not sure I will be going back to this restaurant any time soon. I just hate to bite into pieces of bone, but my dentist loves it when I do since he gets to repair the tooth for far more than I paid for the Pork BBQ plate.
I had a rib plate with beans and fried okra. The ribs were huge and tender . Beans and fried okra was perfect. The pound cake is still the best
