Big Town Hero - Eugene

My vegetarian daughter won’t go here anymore after finding meat on her vegetarian sandwiches (more than once). I'm not a vegetarian myself and I think the sandwiches here are pretty good. They often have coupons available and also a punch card. Overall, good for me.

I will never eat at a Big Town Hero again! I went there a few times, and it was average. I certainly wouldn't call it fantastic. The last time I went there, the cashier also made my sandwich and didn't wash her hands. So gross right there. I complained, and made her do it again, while wearing gloves after washing. There was one, just one piece of turkey on it, and a TON of lettuce to disguise the one piece of meat, and it was just terrible. The bread had been over done, so it was all crusty and kind of stale. The cashier had a serious attitude problem when I sent the sandwich back after watching her handle money, touch her face and then sneeze near the make line, and I asked that she at least wash her hands. I called the manager to complain, and all I got was an apology. You would think they would at least send a coupon or something for a free sandwich, with a little effort to try to win a customer back, but he didn't seem to care at all.

I love this place. It is perfect for a quick sandwich to go. The bread is fresh baked. All of the other ingredients seem very fresh too. The cookies are just as good as homemade. The only downside is they use the same knife to cut all of the sandwiches. So you may end up with a taste of mustard or a piece of sandwich meat you didn't want.
