The waiter suggested the shrimp enchiladas, which ended up being great. They were served with a creamy cheese sauce instead of red enchilada sauce and stuffed with large prawns. The guacamole here is great too, with real chunks of avocado. Great for dinner!
Nice and modern location right in the middle of Oakway Center! The outdoor dining area is perfect in the summer. I have been ordering the same thing, veggie fajitas, for years but after one batch that was swimming in oil I decided to try something new tacos de tofu. You get three tacos, brown rice, black beans and fresh made guacamole. The corn taco shells are marinated in a delicious special red sauce then grilled up. Or if you love seafood, try the seafood taquitos (fried, but worth it) they are packed with crab, crunchy and very consistent. This is probably our favorite Mexican restaurant. Both locations are great!
I almost died eating at Chapala's the last time! I was sick for two days after this. I went with my mom and husband, ate outside because we were close. We thought it wouldn't take long either, being we had things to do. We sat outside, and ended up waiting for about 20 minutes to actually order. Their service was so slow that we ran out of drinks consistently, they left the used ice in the drinks, so they tasted watered down all the time. I ordered fajitas, which are generally a good dish. My mom and I shared them, and were sick for two solid days. So after the wait, being ill and spending far too much for that meal, we decided to never go back again. My husband used to think it was the best, but not anymore.
I went to Chapala 's before work one afternoon with my mom and husband. I ended up so sick at work, I almost went home. I threw what I took home away, afraid to eat it again. My mom threw up multiple times that evening and was also very sick. I ordered fajitas, which were not worth what we paid for them, especially on the lunch menu. I never got the second bowl of salsa that I asked for, or soda. It was like they seated us, and then we ceased to exist. They brought the food, and our waiter smiled and nodded at everything we asked for, i.e. soda, salsa and some extra napkins. We never saw any of it, and he brought the check half way through the meal, with the pushy attitude that said get out, now! My husband thinks their food is good, but I refuse to eat there ever again after that. It almost cost me half a day 's worth of work due to getting sick from it. The food was extremely greasy, my fajitas were swimming in it. It was not an experience I care to repeat.
We were just in for dinner last night and I had my favorite seafood taquitos which never disappoint. Chapalas is the most consistent Mexican restaurant around. We have been dining here for many years and have never had a bad experience. The sizzling fajitas are another favorite of ours and enough to share. You really can’t go wrong here if you are in the mood for awesome Mexican food.
