Beautifull Cafe / lunch bar and warm welcome . The pasta is delicious and the service too. We will definitely go back for lunch or breakfast.
Hidden off the beaten tracks of the Cappo strip is this authentic Italian café with all the charm and flavour. I went for brekkie on a wintery rainy day and was the first in. Service was warm and friendly. I ordered the omelet filled with sausage and mushrooms with homemade bread, and a long Mac topped up. I sat next to the wonderful tiles on which customers had left messages for the café; wonderful touch. The food and coffee came out together. Coffee was excellent, and the omelet was very good too. And for the record, they still have the $5 muffin and coffee special which is a wonderful deal for Freo. I will have to come back and try this along with their famous pastas.
Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to order any food. Although the three of us had already been at the table for 15mins, enjoying our iced coffees, looking at the lunch menu and chatting, a group of 4 walked in and we were immediately ordered to move to a such much smaller 2 person table. My iced coffee was actually quite nice and I'd heard about the authentic food, so was looking forward to it. However our new table was too small, the new chairs uncomfortable and we were plonked right next to the drinks fridge. The smaller table was barely big enough for our drinks so decided to eat somewhere else. This place could learn a thing or two about customer service. This one incidence of rude service left a sour taste in my mouth and I probably won't be back.
Popped into this Italian cafe for breakfast this morning. Have always walked past its colourful window panels which never fail to attract my attention. I suppose this is first and foremost a pasta place rather than a breakfast place. The menu attests to that. I like the look of this small eatery. It's got an assortment of tables and chairs and has a white tiled wall on which, I believe, past patrons scribed/drew on the tiles. Very interesting. I couldn't really have a good look at the entire wall cos' there were 2 tables placed against it and there were customers sitting there. Like I said, the breakfast menu is very limited. I ordered a big breakfast that comes with coffee for only $17.50 (quite a bargain). The flat white was a bit of a disappointment for me cos' it was weak and not hot enough. I was drinking cool not warm coffee 10mins after it was served. The big breakfast does not come with mushrooms and tomatoes unlike most of the big breakfast meals elsewhere. I would have preferred that I was given an option on how I want my eggs done. It was served scrambled only. The french toast was bland according to my taste. I could not taste the egg on the bread. However I like the crispy bacon strips cos' I could hold them up and munch on them instead of slicing them with a knife and using a fork to eat them. I suppose they could be serving great pastas which I didn't have a chance to try today. So, this review is only for the breakfast. I would have given it a higher score if only the coffee were better. Btw, the staff there is friendly.
