My recent visit was an excellent dining experience: first-class food and service, wine delicious and value for money.
I bought a voucher deal to try the pelican months ago and loved it so much have been back loads of times , the food is fab , the staff are fantastic really nice vibe , would recommend to anyone , a little gem of a place !
I enjoyed dining at the Pelican. The fish and chips I had were very nice with thick cut chips made with potato skins on and the batter was good too. I also had cheesecake which was lovely too. the staff are friendly and it has a nice atmosphere. We were served straight away and given a choice of seats. The restaurant is dog friendly which I don't mind, however my only concern is that the staff wash their hands after welcoming the canine guests.
When we arrived we were greeted in a friendly manner and allocated the seat we had reserved with minimum fuss . The atmosphere was friendly and the premises were clean if somewhat gloomy. There was a young couple with a child at a table opposite and the waitresses made a fuss of her, genuinely friendly. We ordered our food, we were only having one course the bavette steak and pepper sauce, with salad, mushroom, tomato and homestyle chips . The steaks arrived as per order, after a reasonable wait and they were delicious , the taste was great. For the cut of meat sirloin tips the texture was fine. The chips were good but slightly thick for my taste . The salad was really nice with a tasty dressing . All in all a positive experience. We will return.
