Standard Oyster Company - Hickory

I am visiting N.C. from out of state and have been hoping to find a spot with shrimp and grits I wanted to try. When I asked my server, Sherry, about them she said it is the favorite item on the menu. What I was served was above and beyond my expectations. Plenty of large shrimp in a mildly spiced Cajun cream sauce. But for me the shining glory of the dish were the fried polenta cakes. Like heaven in my mouth. A very good crunch to the outside, slightly browned, and then creaminess inside. Blown away by this dish. Also blown away by the service. Thanks Sherry!!

Always like the service and food. Seabass was very small but tasted outstanding. Wife's shrimp and grits were unbelievably good.

Had no idea this gem of a place existed in Hickory, but so glad our friends suggested we have dinner here. We loved everything the atmosphere is very fun we made reservations for dinner at the oyster bar. Sherry, our server, was fantastic very attentive and helpful. So many options for fresh seafood we enjoyed raw oysters, tuna tataki, steamed clams, oyster stew, mahi mahi special, and the shrimp and fried grits. All well prepared and delicious! Don't let the location in a strip mall keep you away I would have thought we were at the beach at one of our favorite restaurants if I didn't already know we were in Hickory! We will be back!

My husband and I went here for his birthday. He got the “old money” platter that had a bit of everything, pretty much. I had the special, which was red grouper. He was happy with his and I was with mine. Bill was kind of high, but we expected as much. They did give him cheesecake for his birthday, too. Waitress was very good and considerate of us. Great place!

Excellent experience. The service, atmosphere and food quality was spot on. We will be back and highly recommend you try this place.
