Wongai Beach - Horn

The accommodations are entirely private, featuring a microwave and washbasin. Each room is equipped with air conditioning and a fan, and there's a lovely small veranda. Both the pool and spa are pleasantly warm, making them perfect for cooling off. Every meal we had at the restaurant was delicious. At night, you need a key for entry and exit, which adds a sense of security. The location is also conveniently within walking distance to the ferry and supermarket. They provide an airport pickup and drop-off service as well. While the place may not be the newest in the city, it does have a pool. The staff were exceptional—extremely friendly and helpful.

In my view, the location is excellent, especially if you're interested in history. There's a fantastic World War II history tour nearby that I highly recommend. There's also a small museum at the Gateway Motel. If you’re up for an adventure, you can take a 20-minute ferry ride to Thursday Island, where you can explore and learn about local Torres Strait festivals—just search for them online! As a senior woman, I felt completely secure throughout my stay. The area is very walkable, with easy access to the jetty, cafes, and a small supermarket, all within a 5-10 minute walk. To get to the airport, you'll need to take a minibus. Wi-Fi was also great—completely hassle-free. When it comes to drinks, they serve excellent pub food with generous portions, and everything is very fresh. There's a good selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Overall, I eagerly look forward to my next visit!
