When I arrived about 25 minutes later, my order was ready and waiting for me. A friendly staff member at the register handed me a styrofoam cup with a lid and a sealed straw so I could help myself to a drink from the fountain. Since it was a sunny spring day but quite windy, I chose to sit inside to enjoy my lunch. The fried dumplings were crispy and not overly greasy, and they were served at a good temperature. However, the traditional Gyoza sauce had an unexpected spiciness that didn't complement the dumplings well, so I decided to forgo it after a few attempts. The Fried California Roll was tasty, featuring a crispy coating that was more reminiscent of cornflakes than traditional batter. It had a pleasant flavor and wasn't greasy. However, the sushi rice seemed unusually large and crumbled easily, causing the other fillings to slide out of their rice enclosure. The larger rice made the roll bigger than expected. Although it was sliced after frying, the pieces were too large for a single bite, and since the oversized rice didn't hold together well, taking a bite often resulted in the rest of the piece falling apart. Overall, despite the messiness, the flavor was fine. However, I noticed they didn't automatically provide sliced ginger or wasabi, which are typically served with sushi. Fortunately, since I was dining in, I was able to ask for ginger at the counter, and they promptly provided it. If I ever return, I'll be sure to request it in advance—but it’s unlikely I’ll come back. Less than an hour after my meal, I started experiencing intestinal issues (not stomach-related, and no nausea). I had cramping and grumbling in my intestines for the next 15 to 25 minutes, followed by gas, which led to an unexpectedly urgent drive home. After a lengthy visit to the bathroom, I was able to continue my errands without further interruptions. It's safe to say that I can only speculate that something was spoiled or that cross-contamination occurred during food preparation. Either way, I doubt I’ll be craving sushi from this place—or any other—for a while.
Delicious food with a fast option for lunch nearby. There’s also a lovely outdoor seating area suitable for larger groups.
