After a week of traveling throughout Nova Scotia, we were thrilled to finally find a restaurant that offered peameal bacon. While leaving Inverness Beach, we stopped at Jimmy's on the Beach and were delighted to see a sign advertising the option to add peameal bacon to any sandwich for just $1. We asked the chef if he could make us a sandwich using only peameal bacon, and he happily obliged. The sandwich was delightful, with generous portions of peameal bacon, tomato, lettuce, and mayo on a large bun. Priced at less than $10 CAD, it was a great value. The friendly service from Chef Jimmy and his sales person added to the overall positive experience. If you find yourself at Inverness Beach, make sure to visit Jimmy's for a delicious peameal bacon sandwich - you won't be disappointed.
Located on a beautiful beach, this hut could use some tender loving care and a thorough cleaning. It seems like the food used to be delicious in the past, so there is potential for it to regain its former glory. Despite being open for only a short season, the restaurant receives a good amount of local and tourist customers.
When we visited, they were out of several items and the young woman who was taking the orders was less than helpful and charming. We waited an hour for our food, I think that they forgot to bring the food to the front for quite a long time (we could hear the admonishment through the kitchen door on the side). The food was not great by the time we got it, and I paid close to $50 for lunch for 2. That way my own fault. This is a place to get food while at the beach, waiting an hour in the wind for the food isn't ok. I checked several times with the unfriendly woman in the front. The diverse menu is a great concept, but sticking to the basics and having the food listed, served quickly would be more appropriate for a beach snack bar. The man who seemed to be the chef was very friendly and I hope he does well, please hire someone just as great for the front window.
This little beach shack has a very impressive, and diverse menu. Where else Cape Breton can you get a mahi mahi burger, a philly cheese steak, or a lobster sandwich right at the beach? No need to pack a cooler, Jimmy's on the Beach has all the yummy food you could need!
