The Fishmarket - Kinsale

This restaurant is a great option for a casual dinner - the food is expertly cooked and the service is top-notch. They have a wide variety of drinks to choose from and the pan-seared cod dish was especially delicious.

Last week, my husband and I enjoyed a meal at this restaurant, and it was one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. The service was exceptional; the staff was friendly and attentive, striking the perfect balance in timing between our starters and main courses. I especially loved the seafood gratin I ordered, which was remarkable. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Kilsale.

We visited for lunch and were greeted rather rudely upon arrival, being told we would have to wait five minutes for a table, which was acceptable. Once we were finally seated, we placed our order immediately. However, after waiting 45 minutes, our food still hadn’t arrived, and none of the 5-6 waitstaff bothered to check on us. Other tables around us were served before us, and when I expressed my frustration, there was no apology offered. To make things worse, our food was mistakenly delivered to another table. We weren’t offered anything, like a complimentary coffee, nor did we receive an apology for the mix-up. Overall, the service was terrible, and the staff exhibited a lack of professionalism. The food itself seemed as though it had been sitting out for a while. We definitely won't be returning or recommending this restaurant.

This restaurant is ideal for families, offering a wide range of options to satisfy everyone's preferences. The kids had numerous choices, my husband loved the tasty fish dishes, and I was thrilled with the fantastic vegetarian selections. The gnocchi with butternut squash was especially remarkable, and the desserts were a real treat too. The staff was friendly and welcoming, delivering excellent service throughout our dining experience.

This restaurant is said to be the best in town, but we found it to be very average and overpriced. The specials were the only highlight, showcasing the talent of the cook. The service was also just average. It definitely does not live up to being the best fish restaurant.
