My husband ordered the bean burrito (because meat of any kind was a $5 upcharge). The burrito only contained a gooey mixture of rice and queso, plus a few beans (see photo). Plus, the $7 guacamole had no flavor ? to quote another disappointed El Jefe reviewer, How do you ruin guacamole? I 'm bummed because a year ago I ordered the same meal and it
Was randomly looking for a place to eat and I thought about Mexican food, so I searched while I was in Lynchburg, Virginia, and El jefe showed up in my Google search. The food was good, hot and delicious. The environment was very calm and light and cozy. I will come back again.
Beautiful view I thought it was weird that there was no sign on the front with the business name. Also we wanted jalapeño on our tacos and we got a massive jar.
The food looks absolutely amazing but lacks flavor to any of your taste buds. For one, I've never known you could make tortillas to taste like cardboard and sauce that literally has no evidence or hence of flavor. But on the other hand this is the spot where you can sit at the bar and have a drink, they are on point and the atmosphere is quite charming for a hole in the wall.
My partner and I really enjoyed the taqueria! We had the chips and salsa, a flight of Cabo Wabo tequila (especially enjoyed the anejo), the daily taco special, and one each of the ribeye and blackened tuna tacos (tradicionale). Food arrived quickly, and everything was excellent. We plan to go back on our next trip.
