Ants Bistro - Melbourne

The restaurant was hosting a private party upstairs, which seemed to distract the staff. Our meals were served one by one, causing one of us to finish before the others even received their food. This seemed to be a common occurrence, based on other reviews. Although the food was good, the incredibly slow service left us unsatisfied. If we hadn't already paid, we would have requested a refund, as there were no apologies for the delay.

The food at this restaurant was mediocre at best. We ordered vegetable dumplings, vegetable spring rolls, and a honey pepper steak that lacked flavor. The vegetable fried rice was also disappointing. The only dish that was decent was the chicken kung po. The service was slow and we had to ask multiple times for the rest of our meal and rice. We even had to remind them of what we were waiting for. We also had trouble getting basic condiments like chili oil and were given a cracked and leaking bottle of soy sauce. The cleanliness of the bathroom made us question the state of the kitchen. Overall, our dining experience was very disappointing and expensive, costing $111 for three people. We will not be returning and suggest avoiding this restaurant in favor of other options nearby.

Been here multiple times before and though the food has always been good, the service continues to decline. 1 waiter and 1 teller to service about 15 tables is not practical. I think everyone was patient but too many mistakes were occurring (missing food, no cutlery, water, wring food, etc)

I am sorry but to say don’t go here is hard to say. Despite a man and lady trying to serve at different times we left with most of us not getting meals or only getting rice. We thought it would be great to try off the busy lane, but we were wrong.

Not what it used to be . We were seated because the couple on the table just got up and walked out , not a great sign, service is wasn’t bad because it was non existent no tables were getting cleared we counted 12 people leave before ordering) We got half of what we ordered and it tasted good but the rest never came or was incorrect. Sad really because this place used to be ok won’t be back
