Border Mx - Mississauga

I came here over the weekend to try the Bake & Shark that I had heard about. We arrived after closing time but due to a website error, they let us in and made us a fresh batch. It's simply delicious and very filling. The prices are very reasonable and the service was fantastic. The only drawback is that they don't have a tip option in their debit/credit machine - they are worth gratuity. I will definitely be back soon and would highly recommend!

A newly opened, fantastic Caribbean restaurant to experience while visiting Toronto. Located in the heart of Mississauga, Island Pot offers dine-in, catering, take-out and delivery. Freshly cooked, delicious Caribbean cuisine reminiscent of d'islands. It's time to spice up your life!

My wife and I both love Mexican food and Border MX has become our go to. It is a family owned restaurant run by some amazing people. We've had to have eaten there at least 30 times and every meal has been great. They are opening up a 2nd restaurant in Streetsville and looking forward to going there too. My favourites are the enchiladas and the meat lovers fajitas. Tortilla Soup is amazing as well.

My family and I have been to Border MX a number of times. The owners are always present, friendly and approachable. Menu is not long but full of treats, and no Tex-Mex nonsense - real Mexican dishes. The salsas served with the meals, especially the Habanero, are outstanding. I recommend the Tampiquena!! Delicious! Will definitely be back, and I am happy to hear they are opening a second location in Streetsville!

My partner and I stumbled across this place 2 weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised!Background Info (TL/DR): We love Mexican food and are very familiar with authentic Mexican flavors, having dined extensively in Mexico and also in the US. Generally speaking, the options in the GTA and Ontario overall have been very disappointing and we could never understand why. With numerous mediocre-at-best experiences, we've learned to take "good reviews" for Mexican restaurants in Ontario with a grain of salt, so our expectations were understandably low when we read about Border Mx.To be honest, Border Mx is a bit of a dive as far as restaurants go, but I guess that adds to the authentic experience. We ordered Queso Fundido with added chorizo to share and it was absolutely delicious, easily the best item on the menu in my opinion. The flavors were bold, bright and packed a nice kick. For entrees I ordered a beef Chimichanga and my partner ordered their famous Fish Tacos. The cilantro rice, refried beans and guacamole were all excellent, which is a sign of a skilled chef who pays attention to details. The Chimichanga was a bit wet for my liking and could have been fried a bit longer, but the flavors were nice with fresh ingredients on the inside and well-balanced seasoning. I would have personally gone heavier with the lime and cilantro just to heighten the intensity of the flavors and give it more punch but that's just me. The Fish Tacos were slightly disappointing because the waiter had hyped it up so much when we ordered it. Yes, everything was fresh, beautifully seasoned and well-executed, but I absolutely despise the oily and soggy texture of basa fish and that put me off. I know basa is a good option from a cost point of view, but I would gladly pay more for a higher quality fish. Other than that, I would again go heavier on the cilantro and lime to make it more punchy, but that's a personal preference.For dessert we ordered the Churros. For me, it was a bit over-cooked and I prefer a softer texture, but for my partner thought it was perfect.Overall, we were so glad to have stumbled across this place because we finally have a good option for Mexican food that's very close to our house. Compared to some of our favourite places in Mexico and even in Detroit, this restaurant is lacking in some aspects, but compared to almost any other place we'd been to in Ontario this is easily one of the best options considering the authentic flavors, quality of ingredients, and reasonable cost.
