I've ordered the flounder plate and the half-fried chicken special twice each. Having just moved from the coast, we are quite discerning when it comes to flounder, but Maw Maw's has exceeded our expectations—especially considering that two flounder plates with drinks came to just $19.74, including tax. I also enjoy the half-fried chicken, which is deep-fried without breading, and I always pair mine with their homemade barbecue sauce. Plus, they offer a wide selection of vegetables. I typically avoid potatoes in favor of more complex carbohydrates like beans, and Maw Maw’s does a great job with their pinto beans, even chopping some onion to add. The only dish we weren't fond of was the biscuits. We visited towards the end of breakfast service, and as someone who bakes biscuits myself, I have high standards. The waitstaff is attentive and works diligently to ensure you have everything you need. Lunchtime is always bustling with lots of laborers and locals picking up takeout, and the staff remembers many customers by name. If you leave feeling hungry, it’s likely your own doing. The flounder special is available on Fridays, while the half-fried chicken special is offered on Thursdays. There are other specials as well, though we haven’t tried them yet. They close at 2 PM and are not open on Sundays. Given that they start their days early, it's best to avoid arriving ten minutes before closing on Saturdays if you expect great service or a full menu. However, if you do go at that time, they might still be happy to serve you one of their $2 foot-long hot dogs, provided they haven't run out!
This charming country kitchen has a lovely southern vibe. I really enjoyed the colossal cheeseburger served fully loaded! They offer breakfast until 11 AM, and their gravy biscuits are absolutely phenomenal. I highly recommend this spot!
Expensive for what we got, especially since half of us was drinking water. Limited menu, the mashed potatoes were pretty spicy, mac and cheese very mushy, chicken tenders were burned and the service was poor. First time there and I wasn't impressed.
Large small country kitchen with a south atmosphere. Loves the great Cheeseburger all the way! They have breakfast until 11:00 and their Gravy Biscuits are from this world. I highly recommend this place.
