Max & Irma's Kitchen - Nelson

The patio is a nice component of the restaurant, The service was good and there was a variety to choose from on the menu.Flat Iron steak was very tender and cooked perfectly. The roasted veggies were some of the best I've had, not overcooked or under seasoned like some other places.Pizza looked good but the crust was sugary almost like they cooked something else prior to rolling out the dough. We ordered two pizzas and they both had the same sugary taste to the crust that overwhelmed the flavor of an otherwise good pizza.Desserts were also very good.

Perfect blend of cheese, proper wood Fire oven, and a great patio. Lovely variety in the menu as well. Much recommended!!!

The food was fresh and homemade. I had the ITALIAN CLUB on Focaccia. So fresh and so filling. If we had know this place before we would have come for Dinner. Well Done Max&Irma

Fabulous food, highly recommended by the locals! Delicious menu, and they specially created my meal due to dietary restrictions. Their meatballs and pasta rivaled Mario Batalli's! Love that the menu is locally sourced and much of it is organic. This is a "must do" restaurant when in Nelson!

My husband and I have been coming to Max & Irma's for years. We have property just outside of Nelson, so when we're here, for the summer, my husband always gives me free rein when choosing where to come for my birthday. I must admit that I do check out some other options, thinking that a change might be a good idea, but I always get drawn back to M&I's because it has the most eclectic menu. I should also admit that we've never actually had anything off that eclectic menu and that is because their specials are just over the top! Last night was no exception! The choices were a citrus salmon salad with fresh strawberry salsa and the other was a lasagne made with spicy lamb meatballs. Although I love salmon, lasagne made with lamb was just too interesting to pass up, and boy, was THAT an understatement!! It was, very likely, the best lasagne I'd ever had! I asked our waitress to convey the order, to the chef, that he was to pack up his cooking utensils immediately, because he was moving in with us! She said she'd pass that on, but I don't think she took me too seriously!! The portions are just about the right size so that means you'll have room for dessert, and that is NOT to be missed! We both had Concord grape merlot sorbet, made, as is everything else, in house, and let me tell you, as one who's not a big fan of ice cream or is relatives, this was to die for! Please don't take MY word for, go try it for yourself! After that, you'll just keep going back!
