I was disappointed by this restaurant. It was not as good as I had hoped, with average food and a lackluster atmosphere. There was nothing particularly special or noteworthy about it. Overall, not the best place for a dining experience.
I am disappointed to have to write this, but the elderly Chinese man at this restaurant needs to learn about courtesy and respect.
The location is very nice - the clubhouse at Granite Point in Nelson. We have been many times for meals (lunches, brunches, and dinners) in the past and it has been good. Consistency can be an issue year to year as the contract to run the restaurant is often taken over by different people each year. Typically, it is good. This was our first visit this year - for Mother's Day breakfast. It took us two and a half hours from start to finish (which was fine as we were not in a rush and enjoyed visiting). They offered a 3 course meal. The starters were good - fresh and well presented. The main course -- many of our meals were cold (some items I think they prepared before hand, had them in the refrigerator, and then heated up -- but didn't get them heated!). Desserts were fine - some selections better than others, and some seemed to have been just 'slapped on the plate'. If it had been my first visit to the clubhouse, I likely would not go back. However, we will likely try again for a lunch or dinner over the summer to see how that goes. Hopefully, this was an isolated bad meal from this years contractor. If there was a rating between poor and average, that is what I would choose.
Numerous friends and acquaintances golf regularly at Granite Pointe and sing their praises of this picturesque course. Not being a golfer, I visit the clubhouse infrequently for an evening meal or to attend a specific event. The menu is varied and the scenery from the deck is glorious. The food is well prepared and presented. The servers are engaging, efficient, and invariably have a humorous story or two to relate. Dining here is always a worthwhile experience.
