Baps - Newcastle upon Tyne

I love the generous portion sizes for salads and sandwiches at this restaurant. The staff are always friendly and there is a wide selection of choices, including amazing tray bakes. The fact that it is always busy is a good indication of its popularity.

Disappointing in Covid times to see staff picking lettuce up with bare and not use tongs. Only one staff member did this. Not all of them may i add,

I have always enjoyed the jacket potatoes from Baps but noticed today that the staff handle the food wearing surgical gloves so you are given the impression that it is hygienic but then they proceed to take money and give change wearing the same gloves. Then they go on to serve the next customer touching the bread and salad etc with the money-contaminated-gloves. I won't be buying anything there again.

There there is a small, older woman who always puts the smallest amount of filling in sandwiches, salads and jacket potatoes. (I recently had a salad box from her that wasn't even half full! She is also quite rude and very sullen! If you get served by her expect to be ripped off and hungry not long after. Used to be great, huge portions! Now its changed and not half as good.What a shame. Much better places to go.
