Found this great little cafe as my girlfriend and I were looking for new places to try... it was great! Coffees were fantastic. Had a lox, bagel and cream cheese with mint (who’d thunk and my girlfriend had an equally amazing meal. It’s a small...cafe, only a couple of tables, and people stand outside to get their coffees but everyone is just lovely and so helpful. They don’t have a website so just take my word for it and take a chance... worth the try! The food is just delicious. I will be back
Seating at the back, really popular with the younger crowd. Good coffee, great service, good selection
I live approximately minute from this cafe, hence why I choose to visit over some of the other better known (packed) cafes in the area. In a suburb with some very steep competition and coffee snobs galore, Belljar still does the trick. Prices are...average for Newtown, if you want a good strong coffee then order a double, that never fails. I've had breakfast here once, bacon and egg roll. It was average cafe fare, much the same as you would get anywhere else. I like that it's constantly got customers but it's never that busy. Comfortable place to sit down or grab takeaway
Pooped in for coffee and brunch with small daughter. We sat on stool at a wooden bench looking out over street. The cafe was pretty busy but the waitstaff were polite and friendly and quick to take our order. Brunch menu is short with for breakfast and a "sandwiches Daughter had bacon and egg sandwich with BBQ sauce which came with sourdough bread. Bacon cooked to crispy but not too much and tasted good while sour dough was, well, sourdough. She got a butter knife as utensil somewhat bizarrely. I had salmon on sourdough which was served with boiled egg and rocket and capers and was a fairly good combination although the egg was dominant. I got knife and fork which I didn't really need so gave to daughter. Nice coffee and really really good fresh squashed apple juice. Turns out bench was really doubling up as seat, as found out when someone sat on other end of it and rocked breakfast about. Something to be expected in tiny street corner place. Give it a try if in area
