For context I have worked in the bar/restaurant industry for 10+ years and drank more than my fair share so I am experienced when it comes to my drinks/drinking. The night I went I had become acquainted with a few of the bartenders over time and they had a local beer special which was something to the effect of $6 for a 16oz pint. Naturally I tried the beer and liked it and stuck to it for the duration I was there. I ended up having 4 pints and was racking up my savings in my head because who doesn't do that when they are getting a deal on some good product. When I went to cash out the bartender gave me a bill for 6 beers. I politely told him I had only had 4 and had been by many times. He refused to believe me and so I explained essentially what I said above regarding being in the industry and whatnot. Keep in mind I had had friendly conversations/exchanges with this bartender many times prior. He continued to stand by the fact I had drank 6 so I just dropped the cash and left. Swindling your regulars (and probably not your regulars) is a great way to drive your quaint nook in the wall into the ground.
The server was in a very lay back mode, a when the order was wrong she asked to fix it, scared to send it back as it took an hour and a half to make the first one. As I'm lactose intolerant, I would never order cheese, to add insult I was billed for the sandwich with cheese. The place is one that's clean and tidy, not super great for a wheelchair, glad I was walking a bit that day. There one cook and two servers, so it's a nice to waste the day away but not one for eating and wanting to be on the move. One of the party had to leave early so ended up taking it to her after we were done.
We went to the resturant today Thurs Oct 31st to meet friends. My first time at the Only. While we were waiting to be served a lady came in from the rain. She was very chatty and pleasant. When all of a sudden the big girl behand the counter yells at here to get out. When the young lady asked why with a rather shocked look the big girl behind the counter said because you 're bat crazy . The shocked woman left and so did we. For an establishment that prides itself on acceptance this was not what we were expecting. I will never go back there again. The girl behind the counter with the dark har and broad shoulders needs to be let go.
Eclectic, unpretentious cool decor. Food is delicious. As a first time visitor I didn’t feel welcome on arrival, no one greeted us or directed us to find a table. Had to look around for menus. When I approached the bar to order, the girl listened to my order then said “I better write this down” and walked away to get a notebook to write the order in, like it was her first time! The other guy who brought us our food and the food itself was great! Just a heads up to first timers, don’t expect warm and fuzzy, good food?Yes, but the reception was cool.
We went in the fall and loved it. It was such a cute venue and the food was great and reasonably priced despite the wait. We were so excited to return during this visit and were very disappointed. One of the staff seemed very put out by my requests to the point we almost left. We decided to stay and give it a chance. The food was barely warm and I was charged for a second cup of the drip coffee. We will not be returning. Very sad we had this experience. We did not feel welcome.
