Made complaint and was told to "Go away.. you make trouble, no refund" So I went away, and I'll stay away, and I'll warn others to stay away too. You only got a 1 star vote, as there is no zero star option. Be warned, only go here if you have never eaten chinese at any restaurant anywhere else, so you can use it as the reason of what horrible chinese tastes like, if you can stomach it.
Lovely looking restaurant with very friendly and attentive staff. I ordered Fried Wontons (6) entrée and Combination Szechuan with fried rice. Entrée: There were 6 smallish wontons, just right for a starter dish. The wontons weren't overflowing with flavour but they come with a sweet and sour sauce which compliments nicely. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side for me but that's a personal preference. Main: Szechuan is probably my favourite Chinese dish and this was one of the best I've ever had. The meat and fish were equally succulent and perfectly cooked. The sauce was outstanding with just the right amount of heat and a pleasant, subtle spicy flavour. The choice of vegetables was (for me) a little strange; large diced carrots, baby corn, courgette but only a couple of small straw mushrooms. They were very well cooked and, lets be honest, I didn't order the dish for the veg! The fried rice was fine. I quite like slightly sticky rice (it's easier to eat with chopsticks) and there was nothing to complain about with it. The only problem was with the soy sauce I was given. It was served in a Kikkoman pouring bottle so I was expecting a slightly lighter sauce but it was a dark soy with quite a heavy, salty flavour. I prefer light soy sauce with rice, fortunately I didn't put much on.Would I recommend it, absolutely! I've been in Qld on business for a week and staying quite close by. Unfortunately I left China View until my last night. In hindsight, I wish I'd tried it earlier because I'd definitely go back...next time I'm here, I will.

A few weeks back I got a takeaway menu through my letter box for China View. Hubby isn't a big fan of chinese, so with him out of town last night, I thought I'd take advantage of trying the place out. So popped in on my way home to pick up some takeaway. Firstly the restaurant looks great and the service was lovely. I decided on steamed dim sims, chicken with spicy salt, duck in plum sauce and fried rice. Wait time was around 20 minutes, so no drama there. They also seemed to have a fairly robust takeaway trade and one table was taken inside too while I was there. Okay got my food home, opened up the containers and everything looked delicious. Here is where my review will now become a little mixed. Firstly the dim sims - a generous serve of four and they looked really good, but somehow just seemed to lack taste. I can't put my finger on why, but they were just really bland, even with soy sauce. Next up the fried rice - sorry but I have to say this was dismal. I don't for the life of me know how this is possible but it was gluggy. Almost like it hadn't been fried at all - I don't know, perhaps they pre-make it and just heat and dish up. But it was really awful - and I love fried rice. The grains were all just stuck together, it was almost like risotto in some ways and really tasteless. Very disappointing. The duck in plum sauce was okay - I was expecting it to be battered I guess (like most places serve up) so I was surprised to see a whole breast sliced - pleasantly so - but then the skin side wasn't rendered down enough, so some pieces were really quite fatty - but the flavours were good, there was a good amount of veggies in the dish and in all it was okay. The pick of the night - or should that be saviour - was the chicken with spicy salt. Tender pieces of battered chicken (so probably just as well the duck wasn't) with loads of spicy salt - a really good spicy hit and I really enjoyed this dish a lot. Look it's very close to home for me, but I most likely won't go back - would prefer to drive a little further and get chinese I really like. I'm a bit disappointed it wasn't better as after seeing inside the restaurant, I had planned to make hubby go there one night for dine-in, but that won't be happening. But I do wish them all the best - they seemed to have plenty of repeat customers in picking up takeaway, so maybe I'm just too fussy, or maybe it was an off night.
