Modern Snack - Riverhead

The restaurant offers delicious classic dishes, and the waitresses are sweet and lovely. The pie is exquisite, the soft shell crab is fantastic, and the chicken pot pie is simply amazing!

We had visited this restaurant before and enjoyed it, but our recent experience was quite disappointing. We ordered lunch, which included a tuna melt, a chicken salad sandwich, and a grilled cheese. None of the sandwiches came with fries, despite each costing around $15. We decided to order two servings of fries at $7 each, but we only received about 15 fries per plate. The portion sizes were incredibly small, with barely any tuna on the sandwich. We were all taken aback by the inadequate portions and mediocre flavors. When we received the bill, it totaled $75 for what felt like an unsatisfactory lunch. Although the staff was friendly, we won’t be returning.

My wife likes the turkey meal. In the past it was a Whole Roasted Turkey, now it's Turkey Breast without the bone. The food I ordered was okay but much better years ago. I think they are losing their touch. Probably are thinking of selling the business or just closing down like a lot of businesses since the Covid-19. This place was our favorite for many of years and we traveled 40 min. to get there. Anyone have any idea???

It has a classic diner vibe that brings to mind a cozy, home-cooked meal. I strongly recommend it!
