When I mentioned this, the waiters always say I'll talk to the cook, but nothing changes. there are too many excellent vegetarian and vegetarian-friendly places in sarasota for two salads for dinner, no matter how delicious they are.
In my opinion, this is the best restaurant that Sarasota has to offer for real food enthusiasts. The menu is clean and intelligent and really interesting. Chef Phelps is a fisherman with conscience and an amazing range. When I sat for dinner, I was fascinated from the first moment. The service was perfect. The menu reading, although clear fish heavy, was involved. I had so much fun learning every offer to think about where Phelps has acquired all the ingredients and what thought process he used to get to the final dish. I wanted to ask more questions, and I did. The waitress answered each of them with confidence. We scanned the menu with the Parmesan beignets. They brought me back to my grandmother's kitchen. When I was a kid, she would make us fat eggs. They were anything but fat. But rather they were perfectly fried light and airy puffs of dough. At some point, they would be sweet, rolled into honey. Other times they 'd make them savory, filled with a Schovy in the middle and there 'd be a plate of their fresh brazed pork tomato sauce for diving. Phelps achieved this perfection with his Parmesan return and I thank him for his memory. I followed with the Black Kale Ceaser. The texture of this salad with the balance of acidity against the anchovy was wonderful. It was like a delicate piece of meat and I wanted to go to the experience until everything was gone. Delicious and refreshing. For my main course, I ordered the Everglades Fish Bake. Fender of locally caught Snapper Filet with garden vegetables, herbs, some citrus, white wine....clean and so fresh. You can only fit this meal when you go fishing on a golf reef yourself and prepare it on the boat! I finished with a plate Cornbread Ice Cream paired with a snifter of Cognac and a cup of coffee. The texture of the ice was rich and smooth, the taste of sweet corn milk with perhaps a hint of honey or agave. Cream and delicious. It was a perfect end for a perfect meal. Thank you, boss. That was amazing!
This place had the coolest ambience. It appears like your driving into a neighborhood until you illuminate the inviting lights from their terrace area. The service is excellent and all employees work well to make your vastness seamless. Our server was Micah and his attention, food knowledge and personality was phenomenal! Not only did he recommend the most amazing meal, but he helped us choose the perfect wine to add it. The food presentation was amazing and the quality of the farm to table ingredients was obvious in its taste. The rotating manu keeps your taste buds happy!
Wow! What a place, atmosphere, staff and of course food. From the moment we moved in, we knew we were for a leak. We were received and immediately set. The staff was professional, extremely courteous, thorough, patient and nursing. The food should die. The four of us returned all plates clean, we really enjoyed every dish we ordered from appetizers to dessert. I've known Chef Steve and his wife Kim for over 5 years and I can't say enough good things about her as a human. Experience the work of her love and Steve's passion food, only let me regret that I have waited so long to dinate indigenous. It is definitely a place we visit again and warmly recommend friends and family. Indigenous is a real jewel, away, but in the heart of downtown Sarasota. If you have the opportunity to visit, do not hesitate for a moment.
We came for our big date night at our Honeymoon on the 2nd. November, sat outside and could not have asked for a better experience. The restaurant is rustic and fun; the image that is intended works perfectly without going over the top. Our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about the food and the ideals of the restaurant. He treated his section like a professional, always time to talk to us and answer all the questions we had. We had time between our appetizers and ducks. The staff took care of small things - our water was always full, empty plates were deleted, and new cutlery was given to us between courses. And then there was food. Amazing. Just fantastic. We had the Bisque Mushroom, Beignets, Paprika (and stuff) and the pork shoulder as appetizers. The ruck relish with the pig is something I would put on everything if I could, even if it doesn't. The Beignets were light and fluffy, sweet but also a hint of salt. He Bisque, a thick delicious, heaping serving, hot and full of taste. If I had only one criticism, it would be that we could get them at once and it might have been a bit better to keep them apart. But everything was absolutely delicious. Then for meals we had the Snapper Special and the Char Special. Madness. It was obvious that this is a passion, not only a job, as everything was carefully prepared, the coating was beautiful, and it was all fresh. I was very impressed when our server mentioned that the Snapper takes a little longer to make, but that didn't stop my Char from being hot when he arrived. It was an ode to perfect timing, something that doesn't happen often in restaurants. We didn't leave room for dessert, but we could have tasted the bread pudding or the tahini ice cream. If we're back in the area, we'll make sure we save space next time. Thank you to the boss and staff of Indigenous that our honeymoons will become a success tonight. We drank, ate, and we enjoyed each other very much. We recommend you whoever we can be in the Sarasota region.
