We went for the fish chip night, but on arrival were told there was only enough fish left for 3 people, there were 4 of us. It was only 6pm!! I was offered the Sri Lanka. With no other choice, I had that.I wasn't offered the Sri Lanka starter. Others just sat there whilst it was brought out to them. I eventually asked. There was no vegetable curry only 1 chicken curry dish (I don't eat meat). It was tasty enough, but the sauce was watery. The starter of onion bhajis were really not nice. They tasted of flour. This less than satisfactory meal cost me £10.50. Whereas the meal of fish chips that I went for would've only cost me £5 I actually would have enjoyed my meal.We won't be going back.
Great pub, great food and drink, and great hospitality.
Smelt like a stale ash tray and was told I can’t be arsed to do food anymore!
We were staying in the area and were recommended this local pub. We dined on Friday night and chose three main dishes from the Smokehouse menu which were delicious! The Tennessee pulled beef was amazing as was the 10oz Rump steak and the Stilton beef burger. The portions were huge with generous helpings of skinny fries and salad and cooked to perfection. We have big appetites and we could hardly finish it! The staff and patrons are really friendly and the pub retains its 'olde worlde ' traditional feel with big flagstone tiles and a crackling open fire which adds to the cosy atmosphere. There is a good choice of reasonably priced ciders and ales, great friendly service and it 's also dog friendly. Would definitely recommend and will be back to visit if we are in the area again!
