Hilton House - South Derbyshire

I recently visited the Hilton House Hotel and was welcomed by a warm and friendly smile that made me feel right at home. The room was cozy and modern, with incredibly comfortable beds. During my stay, I had the pleasure of trying out the restaurant's new menu. The garlic and chilli prawns were absolutely delicious - a must-try for seafood lovers! I highly recommend them. I also tried the fish and chips, which were equally fantastic. Overall, I had a great experience at this hotel and would definitely return.

Visited Dec ‘21 after hearing of good reviews on social media. Ordered Steak dinner at £17 and the Gammon at £11. The menu we were given was not the same as the one on their website. The quality of the food was good but the size of the portions were tiny, not value for money at all. The Service was OK. Didn’t realise until we got home that the Gammon meal should have had 2 eggs on it! We were the only people sat in a room behind the main bar, the ambience/dining experience was poor, bright lights, not Christmassy at all. There were several sets of battery operated xmas lights up at the windows but the batteries had just about gone in them all and the lights were barely lit. Won’t be returning.

What a fantastic family sunday lunch.great roast meats and vegetables super service all round. The quality on offer at incredible value less than £15 for 3 courses will get a definite return visit.

The meat and vegetables were dry and overcooked, with roast potatoes that were hard and burnt, and vegetables that were mushy. The staff seemed rushed, as they were loudly cleaning and rearranging tables and chairs while I was eating. This made me feel pressured to leave. The manager, Colin, was very arrogant and rude.

I have a rule. If something’s on groupon, it’s on groupon for a reason. There’s nothing out of the ordinary to report following a family meal here. It is what it is. A cheap carvery for the family, and that’s what you get. A little dated, and felt like I’d been transported back to the set of the shining, but the staff were very helpful and the food was reasonable. If I tried to find fault, it would be the aunt Bessie’s Yorkshire puddings and I’ve no doubt the roast potatoes were from the freezer, but for 4 to eat for £25 I couldn’t grumble without effort. Feels like it needs an overhaul, but was busy and friendly. We’d probably go back if passing.
