Brooklands Tavern - SOUTHERN RIVER

Reasonable though gets very crowded and menu is very inflexable , but a great place if you have kids with you.

The waitress did not have a clue what the signature dish comes with!!! asked whether it comes with potatoes or chips and asked if i could have chips, well that did not happen as my pork arrived on lukewarm mash potatoes, also the menu lists baby carrots, parsnip, beetroot and snow peas to accompany the pork yet i found none of these on my plate, instead tough skin eggplant, hard capsicum and one piece of pumpkin? seems that the signature dish comes with whatever they can find in their kitchen not what the menu states!!! that was just one of the things that went wrong on my b'day lunch, service was pretty poor as the waitress forgot to put our order through!!! the menu sounded good but the kitchen just did not deliver...

The Tavern is split into bar and restaurant area with a wall that completely negates any sound from the bar area whilst in the restaurant part. Ordering at the bar was quick and easy and staff were polite. My companion and I ordered the lobster and Rump Steak Dish. I asked the server what this tavern was famous for and this was the dish she suggested. The food arrived pretty quickly. My rump was ordered rare and received rare. My companion ordered medium rare but got well done. The rump was tasty and tender, the lobster was average. A little over cooked and unlikely fresh. Chips were average. Would try again but probably a different dish.

It's a great tavern with plenty of parking, the staff are very friendly. The menu has a good choice of food selection, with A good children and pensioners size meals and prices on offer. I would recommend this tavern for a family meal.

Had lunch with the family the staff were really efficient and friendly we all enjoyed our food my pork belly was excellent very enjoyable afternoon
