Italian may have been lighter on meat compared to some chains, but average. Plenty of space, friendly staff and clean.
We had our first meal at Old Country Pizza after 4 days of camping at Indian Lake, and we were all very satisfied by the time we left. The pizza crust was soft inside and crispy outside. The toppings seemed freshly prepared rather than canned, and our onion rings appeared to be made in-house. Regardless of where the onion rings were made, they were some of the best I've ever had. The kindness of the staff struck me during our stay. As someone with many years of restaurant experience under my belt, I have come to appreciate restaurants who treat their customers like people rather than numbers, along with those who don't take every available shortcut in the kitchen. Old Country appears to excel in both of these categories. Thank you for filling up our tanks on the way back to Boston!
We found a nice pizza restaurant in Speculator after searching around a bit. The food was tasty and the portions were generous. It appeared to be popular with the locals as we saw several families and groups of friends dining there. We ordered spaghetti and meatballs, which we enjoyed. The dish had a perfect balance of sauce and meatballs. The service was also good, with the staff providing helpful information about the restaurant's hours.
We grabbed a sandwich and enjoyed it by the lake, a perfect way to wrap up our camping adventure in the Adirondacks!
On Sunday, October 13, 2013, my husband and I took a drive through the beautiful rural scenery and decided to stop for a late lunch at a casual, friendly, and very clean restaurant. My husband ordered a tuna sub, while I chose the veggie burger with sweet potato fries from their impressive menu. Our meals were made to order and delicious. We were enticed by the aroma of fresh baked goods when we walked in, so we decided to take an apple strudel to go for dessert. The owner, who I believe served us, proudly showed us the strudels and assured us we would enjoy them. We found them to be exquisite and the best we had ever tasted. It is highly recommended to save room for a homemade dessert at this restaurant as they are truly exceptional. The person who made the strudels is definitely a culinary artist.
