Far from it at Scratch, where they were more than welcoming). We forgot to take more photos as we had a lovely time. Happened to have reservations when the restaurant and lounge were empty (they’re next door to each other but connected by a hall) so we chatted the bartender up the whole time and he was wonderfully helpful in suggesting appropriate drinks and food without upselling or overdoing it.We had a scallop appetizer on request (similar to the main dish without sides; scallops were about the diameter of a standard soda can , as thick as an inch or 1.5, and great sear with mid rare opaque center; came with a beautiful sauce that reminds me of Mae Ploy; not spicy; also purple cabbage I believe). We had the duck as our main (photo) with asparagus, carrots, pomegranate reduction and a crispy risotto cake. If you like risotto it’s wonderful, and if you don’t, the crispy coating will remind you of poor kid fish sticks in the best way possible ?The dessert and cocktail/alcohol menus were inclusive of dietary restrictions/allergies and the prices for those all seemed fair but we’re poor so we’ll come back for tomato basil soup and gluten free tiramisu another day.Thank you all for the lovely meal and helping us celebrate! Sorry for dissecting your food on the plate but I love the science of it. We’ll be back soon.
My wife and I had dinner at Scratch as part of their Restaurant Week last night. We had a wonderful time. The food was super tasty, ambience was buzzing, and the service was great. For as busy as they were, our bartender/server, Gabe was attentive, timely, and very friendly. We will back.
Michael Wiley, the new owner of Scratch, has done an excellent job since taking over last month! The food is fantastic! I highly recommend the paper deli featuring shrimp, capers, and sun-dried tomatoes. We also tried the steak with bourbon glaze, which was amazing. The calamari is in a league of its own compared to other options in town, and the cheesecake is a unique treat that makes for the perfect ending to a lovely night out.
We needed up here bc it was the only place I could get a reservation this weekend. Let me tell you, my party was pleasantly surprised! We started with the clams. They were great and the sauce had a nice kick to it. All four of us had the ribeye which was cooked perfectly. The steaks were flavorful and served with asparagus and purple potatoes. We left full but not miserable. The star of the show was the huckleberry lemonade (add a shot of vodka and OMG)!
Amazing food and wonderful service. The new owner is knocking it out of the park!
