We were very kindly greeted by the two owners and got the concept of the shop explained. There is a kind of sushi burger offered where there are two vegan choices. In addition, you can choose individually desired sauces. They were really struggling and only prepared a vegan misosuppet for us, as the day soup was vegetarian. Our rice sandwiches were prepared with a lot of attention to detail. There were green tea and homemade ice tea. Clear recommendation!
While you wait, the staff eagerly explains everything there is to know about sandoichi (which are pretty much equivalent to the Japanese onigirazu). As a vegan, you have two main options: The Hijiki, filled with brown algae and the Papuro, filled with red cabbage. Then you have to pick your sauce: Teriyaki, vegan Wasabi Mayo or Spicy Miso. I went with their recommendations Hijiki/Teriyaki and Papuro/Wasabi. The ingredients tasted very fresh, vegetables very crispy. I could have used more sauce, but dipping in soy sauce was also acceptable. I preferred the Hijiki, but overall it’s probably a good idea to go with a friend so you can both have a half of each. I also liked that their to go packaging is plastic free.
