Piazza Monte - Toronto

Piazza Monte recently opened and is a great new addition to the quiet West Rouge plaza.

I visited this restaurant last year and had a good experience. However, on my recent visit, I was disappointed. Has there been a change in ownership? The difference in quality from last year is quite noticeable.

The veal sandwich was disappointing - the veal was coated in bland flour, resulting in a pasty taste. The bun was also soggy.

We visited this new restaurant recently and were very impressed, with the food quality, service and business decor. Piazza Monte offers a daily hot table, including items such as hot sandwiches (veal on a bun, veggies on a bun and sausages on a bun, to name a few), pasta dishes (including veal and chicken parmigiana) and salads, plus a variety of pizza and combo dishes. Drinks include expresso and cappuccino, Brio and specialty Italian soft drinks. There are also several dinner to go combinations including lasagna, garlic bread and various parmigiana dishes.Catering is also offered with a minimum 24 hours notice; Gnocchi and Cannelloni, plus Penne Vodka, are among the dishes offered.We ordered Chicken Parmigiana (take out) and it was served with garlic bread, green peppers and mushrooms (choice of toppings is large). The meat was very tender and tasty and the pasta was fresh and delicious (one spaghettini and one penne). Their Arancini is wonderful! Piazza Monte also has a small seated area, should you want to eat there. Try this new establishment in east Scarborough, located in the Ravine Park Plaza, at the north end of the plaza across from the TD Bank. You will not be disappointed!
