This Italian restaurant has excellent food, with both outside garden seating as well as indoors. The servers seems to be running all the time to deliver good service. Parking is available at the Ibis hotel that is adjacent. Walking is probable because Piola is located on a busy street that is attached to a round-a-bout and major highway.
I love this place and have been back several times. For me the salads are even better than the pizzas. They have top end ingredients like sun-dried tomatoes, goats cheese etc. They bring out a delicious complimentary bruschetta and the salad was accompanied by warm fresh bread. They provide proper olive oil and balsamic vinegar. So often in Mexico the quality of the ingredients isn’t quite what I hope for but this place is an exception. The service is also fantastic. The staff remembered us and greeted us with big smiles and are lovely and attentive. They even extended happy hour to accommodate us on the 2 for 1 deal. Can’t wait to go back.
Had a really awkward dinner here the other night. The food was fine, but my fettuccine al ragu was basically as good as supermarket pasta with a jar of store bought sauce. Not gross or anything, just totally unremarkable. The service, on the other hand, is definitely worth remarking on. When we arrived, it took our server about five minutes to wrangle some menus for us. He told us he was looking for Spanish menus and could only find English menus. I'm not sure why he assumed we didn't speak English my friend and I are both white Americans. Throughout the meal, around five different people checked in on us to ask how everything was, which was confusing and a little obnoxious. I can probably summarize the tenor of the meal with the following dialogue. The confusion that follows probably has something to do with the loud music that made hearing what anyone was saying very difficult. Server 1: Can I get you anything else? Me: Just the check, please. Server 1: Sure thing! Server 1 leaves, returns with the check, and subsequently takes the check away. While we wait for our change.... Server 2: Are you waiting for your check? Me: Yeah, the other guy has it. Server 2 leaves and returns with another copy of our check. Confused, my friend and I just leave the check on the table and wait for Server 1 to return with our change. While we wait.... Server 3: Are you ready? Gestures toward the check on the table, thinking our money or card are in there Me: No, this is actually a second copy of the check that someone brought after we paid with a different server... Server 3: Sorry about that! Server 1 finally returns with our change and we leave. fin.
